Key performance results in Ohio for the 2010-11 school year:■  2,610 schools were ranked “Effective” or higher, compared with 2,495 the previous year.■ 86 districts earned “Excellent with Distinction,” compared with 81 the previous year.■ 79.5 percent of districts met or exceeded expected growth in student progress, compared with 62.6 percent the previous year.■ No district was in “Academic Emergency,” compared with one the previous year.■  Six districts were on academic watch, down from nine the previous year.■ 84.3 percent of students graduated from high school in 2010, up 1.3 percentage points from the previous year. However, a new federal method for calculating the rate will put it at a lower rate of 78 percent.■ The Performance Index, the measure of students’ test scores, climbed 1.7 percentage points to 95 percent.Source: Ohio Department of Education
